If the "Off the route" option is turned to on, the travel route displayed on your maps will not connect to the footprint. It will simply leave it aside.
What is this option for?
Here is an example: The travel tracker records two locations at 1:50 pm and 2:10 pm both about 5 km distant from each other. Your manually posted footprint is dated to 2:00 pm in between these two waypoints, but it is positioned somewhere totally different (e.g. a place you visited at 5:00 pm the same day). There would be huge edge in the route line of your map, as either the location of the footprint or the date is a bit inaccurate. In this case, the option "Off the route" is supposed to be activated.
Why is option turned on automatically?
If you are traveling with the travel tracker activated and you are creating a new footprint, our system checks, if there are automatically tracked waypoints close to this footprints. If so, the option "Off the route" will be turned on by default. We recommend to leave it on.
