Since a printed map can’t be zoomed in or out like a digital map, we automatically choose a zoom level that includes all the footprints in your book.
If your trip includes footprints that are far apart, the map may appear very zoomed out. This isn’t ideal, especially if you started with a footprint in your home country, then travel a long distance and continue your trip within a smaller area.
By reviewing your map, you can identify which footprints are causing the wide zoom level. To zoom in further, these footprints need to be hidden. You have two options:
Option 1 (recommended): Use the “Hide on map” setting
Footprints can be hidden from the map with a simple setting:
- Tap Edit footprint
- Tap More
- Enable Hide on map
- Save the footprint and recreate your book preview
This way, your photos and text remain in the book. Please note that this will also hide the footprint on maps in the app and on our website.
Option 2: Exclude footprints from your book
Removing a footprint from your book will also remove it from the map, resulting in a more zoomed-in view.
- Go back to the Choose footprints step in the book creation process
- Deselect the footprints you do not wish to include
- Recreate your book preview
Excluded footprints, including their photos and text, will not appear in the book.
