Import a GPX file into a new trip
You were using another tracking app to record your travel route? You can simply import it into a new FindPenguins trip. To do so, export the route as a GPX file, then import it into an empty FindPenguins trip. Choose Import travel route on the Trip settings > More page of the trip.
- GPX-trackpoints without timestamps will be ignored (there are tools to retrospectively add timestamps, try searching for ”add timestamps to gpx files”)
- GPX-trackpoints that are less that 500m apart will be ignored
- GPX-routes and GPX-waypoints will be ignored
Import a GPX file into an existing trip
You can only import GPX files into empty trips. To import a GPX file into an existing trip, you need to take a detour:
- Create a new empty trip and import your GPX file there (see above for instructions on how to do this).
- Double check if the import is okay!
- Open the Trip settings of the newly created trip with the imported GPX file. There, tap More > Waypoint Tools.
- Use the Waypoint Tools to move your imported travel route into one of your existing trips.
This detour is necessary because we can't undo your import. This way, you have the possibility of checking your import before it changes an existing trip.
Import a GPX file into a Footprint post
It is possible to add a detailed hiking, running or any other route into a footprint. To do so, create or edit a footprint, tap the ”Add attachment” button and select ”Choose a GPX file”.
